How Booking.com commission works
Booking.com commission is a percentage of the booking value, charged to the property after the guest's stay and billed once a month — not deducted from a payout the way some other channels work.
How the commission is calculated and charged
The guest pays the price shown on Booking.com. Afterwards, Booking.com invoices your property directly for its commission — it is not withheld from a payout, because in most markets Booking.com doesn't collect the guest's payment on your behalf. Commission is owed on confirmed stays once the guest has checked out, and also on non-refundable bookings regardless of whether the guest actually stayed.
At the start of each month, Booking.com sends one invoice covering every booking from the previous month, with payment typically due within about two weeks. The invoice itself only shows the total commission owed — the per-booking breakdown lives separately in your reservation statements.
Illustrative commission range
Booking.com doesn't publish one fixed percentage — your actual rate depends on your contract, market, room category and whether you've opted into visibility programs. The range below is illustrative, measured on our own customers' properties, not Booking.com's rate card and not a quote for your property.
| Measure | Illustrative range (our data) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Typical commission | ~15–30%, median ~18% | Varies by market, property type and contract |
| Preferred Partner Program | +2–3 percentage points | Optional — trades extra commission for a visibility badge and higher search placement |

What changes the number you actually pay
Preferred Partner Program
Opting in adds a visibility badge and typically higher placement, in exchange for a few extra percentage points of commission on top of your base rate. It's optional and you can leave it at any time.
Genius and mobile discounts
When a guest gets a Genius, mobile-only or similar Booking.com-run discount, you fund that discount out of your rate — but Booking.com does not charge you extra commission for it. Commission is simply calculated on the already-discounted price the guest paid, not your original listed rate.
Stacked promotions
Genius, mobile rates and other Booking-suggested discounts can combine on the same booking, which lowers the price the guest pays — and therefore the commission base — further than any single discount alone.
Where to read it in your extranet
- 1
Finance → Invoices
Your monthly commission invoice, and a history of past invoices and payments.
- 2
Reservation statements
The per-booking breakdown behind each monthly invoice — this is where you check an individual booking's commission, not the invoice total.
- 3
Partner Hub PDF export
Pick a period to export every reservation included in a given monthly invoice.
If a number looks wrong, Booking.com's own process is to issue a correction document against the original invoice rather than reissuing it — raise disputes promptly rather than waiting for the next cycle.
How Prime Host handles this
Real commission, measured per booking
Prime Host calculates what Booking.com actually charged on each reservation from your own data, instead of a flat rate card number you'd otherwise have to re-check by hand.
See what the guest actually paid
Genius and mobile discounts sit on top of your rate before commission is applied. Prime Shield compares what you sent, what you intended, and what the guest paid, and shows any gap in money.
Frequently asked questions
How much commission does Booking.com charge?
It varies by contract and market. From our own measured data across customer properties, it typically runs roughly 15–30%, with a median around 18%. That is illustrative, not a quote for your property — check your own extranet contract.
When does Booking.com charge commission?
After the guest's stay is complete, or immediately for non-refundable bookings regardless of whether the guest showed up. It's billed as one invoice covering the previous month, not deducted per booking.
Does Genius or a mobile discount cost me extra commission?
No separate fee. You fund the discount itself out of your rate, and Booking.com's standard commission is then calculated on the already-discounted price the guest paid — not your original rate.
What does the Preferred Partner Program cost?
It adds roughly 2–3 percentage points of commission on top of your base rate, in exchange for a visibility badge and typically higher search placement. It's optional and reversible.
Where do I see my actual Booking.com commission?
In your extranet under Finance → Invoices for the monthly total, and Reservation statements for the per-booking breakdown behind it.
