What is a booking extranet?

An extranet is the private management dashboard an OTA gives property owners — separate from the public listing guests see. Booking.com calls theirs the extranet; Agoda calls theirs the YCS (Yielding Control System).

What an extranet actually is

Each major OTA gives every connected property its own login to a back-office dashboard, used only by the property, not by guests. Booking.com's is reached at account.booking.com; Agoda's equivalent is the Agoda YCS. These are the OTA's own tools, run entirely by the OTA — a channel manager doesn't replace them or log into them on your behalf for routine browsing. It connects to them through an approved connectivity integration instead.

What owners typically do in an extranet or YCS

Set and adjust room rates and rate plans directly on that one channel; open or close room types for sale and set minimum stay or other restrictions; reply to guest messages and manage reviews on that specific channel; see that channel's own booking list, cancellations, and payment or invoice details; manage property content such as photos, description, amenities and policies; and choose or change the connectivity provider that is allowed to push updates into the extranet programmatically — this last one is the only setting a channel manager actually touches.

How a channel manager relates to the extranet

Instead of logging into account.booking.com, the Agoda YCS and several other extranets separately every time a price changes, a channel manager connects to each one through a certified connectivity integration, so updates made in one calendar flow into every extranet's rates and availability behind the scenes. The owner typically still has to do one thing manually inside each extranet before this works: open Account → Connectivity provider (or the equivalent setting) and approve the specific integration partner — OTAs intentionally require this step from the account owner for security, rather than letting a third party switch it on their behalf.

Day-to-day pricing and availability after that point are usually managed from the channel manager instead of the extranet, though the extranet still exists for OTA-specific tasks — replying to a review, downloading a specific invoice, managing payment details — that only the OTA's own tool can do.

Extranet / YCS vs channel manager — who does what

Extranet / YCS

OTA-specific tasks: content, reviews, that channel's invoices and payment details, and approving your connectivity provider.

Channel manager

Day-to-day rates, availability and restrictions pushed to every connected channel at once, plus one combined calendar of bookings from all of them.

How Prime Host handles this

Connects as an approved provider

Prime Host connects to Booking.com, Agoda and other OTAs through Channex, a certified connectivity partner, after you approve it from inside your own extranet account.

OTA reference kept on every booking

Each reservation keeps its OTA reference number, so you can still check it against the extranet yourself at any time.

You keep your contract and payouts

Connecting a channel manager doesn't change your OTA contract, commission or payout schedule — those stay exactly as agreed with Booking.com or Agoda.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Booking.com extranet?

The private back-office dashboard Booking.com gives every connected property, reached at account.booking.com — used to manage rates, content, reviews and the connectivity provider setting.

What is Agoda YCS?

Agoda's equivalent of the extranet — its Yielding Control System, the back-office dashboard property owners use to manage that channel.

Do I still need to log into the extranet if I use a channel manager?

Yes, occasionally — for OTA-specific tasks like replying to reviews, downloading a specific invoice, or approving the connectivity provider. Day-to-day rates and availability usually move to the channel manager.

Can a channel manager log into my extranet for me?

No — it connects through an approved API/connectivity integration that you authorize once from inside your own extranet account. It doesn't use your extranet password.

What is a connectivity provider?

The approved third-party integration (like Channex) that an OTA allows to push rate and availability updates into your extranet programmatically. You select and approve it yourself inside the extranet settings.
