Prime Shield catches silently stacked OTA discounts

OTA programmes like Genius or mobile rates can quietly shave money off the price you set. Prime Shield checks every booking against what you actually meant to charge, and tells you the gap in money.

How Prime Shield checks every booking

Three numbers, compared

Every booking is checked against the price you sent to the channel, the price you intended the guest to pay, and what the guest actually paid.

Gaps over 5% reported in money

If the difference is more than 5%, Prime Shield tells you how much you lost on that specific booking — in baht or dollars, not a vague percentage.

Per-channel compensation suggested

When a channel keeps coming up short, Prime Shield can suggest a price adjustment for that channel only, so future bookings close the gap.

Verified on the next booking

After you apply a fix, Prime Shield watches the next booking on that channel to confirm the gap actually closed — not just that you changed a setting.

A real gap, in real numbers

On one property, a room was priced at 1,529 and the guest paid 727.80 — less than half. The booking looked normal in the reservation list; nothing flagged it until Prime Shield compared the three numbers.

That is the kind of gap a hidden OTA promotion can create without ever showing up as a discount line on your side. Prime Shield exists to catch exactly this.

What to do when a booking is flagged

  1. 1

    Open the flagged booking

It sits on the reservation sheet with the three numbers next to each other, so you can see the gap without digging through the OTA extranet.

  2. 2

Decide if it is one-off or a pattern

A single flagged booking might be a one-time promotion. Several on the same channel in a month is worth a price or commission conversation with that channel.

  3. 3

Apply the suggested compensation, or skip it

You choose whether to apply a per-channel adjustment. Prime Shield does not change your prices on its own.

  4. 4

    Check the next booking

Prime Shield re-checks the next booking on that channel and shows you whether the gap closed.

What Prime Shield does and does not do

What it does

  • Checks every booking on a connected channel automatically, no manual comparison needed
  • Shows the gap as an amount of money, on the booking itself
  • Suggests a per-channel compensation and verifies it worked on the next booking

Limits

  • Bookings older than 48 hours are not evaluated — it works on recent activity, not your full booking history
  • It cannot open a guest's page on Booking.com before a booking exists, so it only acts once the booking has landed

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a gap Prime Shield will flag?

Any booking where the price the guest paid differs from the price you sent or intended by more than 5%.

Does Prime Shield stop the discount from happening?

No. It cannot prevent an OTA programme from applying a discount. It tells you it happened and by how much, so you can respond.

Which channels does this work on?

Any channel connected through Prime Host where pricing data is available on the booking.

Can I get the lost money back from the OTA?

Prime Shield gives you the numbers and a per-channel adjustment option; asking the channel directly is a separate step — see Rate Guard for a ready-to-send message.

How soon do I find out about a gap?

As soon as the booking is processed, provided it is within the 48-hour evaluation window.
